I teach both the clarinet and saxophone and it is a job that I enjoy and am extremely enthusiastic about. I like to ensure variety in lessons and am keen to include elements of both music theory and aural training as these are both essential skills for a student's development. Separate music theory lessons are also available should a student wish to spend extra time on theory.
I believe that learning should be fun but I do expect my students to practise regularly throughout the week between lessons. Unfortunately successful progress can't be made without regular practice sessions, and lessons become an unnecessary expense. I write up practice notes for all of my students just to serve as a reminder of the most important things to practise over the week.
