I began learning the clarinet at the age of nine and it has since remained my favourite instrument. Over the years I also took up the piano, saxophone and flute. I have gained Grade 8 ABRSM on the clarinet, saxophone and piano. In Summer 2004 I passed the DipABRSM in Music Performance on the clarinet.
In 2005 I graduated from the University of Chichester with a BA (Hons) Music degree. Since then I have remained in Bognor Regis and have been building a teaching practice within the local area. I also work at Chichester Cathedral in the offices every weekday morning as the Liturgy and Music Assistant.
I am currently working towards the LRSM (Licentiate of the Royal School of Music) in Music Performance on my clarinet and the long overdue ALCM (Associate of the London College of Music) on my saxophone.
More recently I have given myself some professional development targets to improve myself as a musician and teacher. I am going to be restarting piano lessons with the intention of retaking grade 8 so that I can experience first hand what grade exams are like now, and possibly go on to take performance diplomas. Improving my piano skills will mean I can eventually offer piano tuition and take on higher grade accompaniments.
